Stupid Me

In early 2010 I had purchased a 1999 Honda Civic Si Coupe (Ej8). From my eye it looked in decent shape, the guy said it hadn't been in any accidents, had never seen a day of winter, brand new paint job, AC, power locks, power windows, only had 110000km on the swapped motor, the car had 180000km, and also the car looked pretty kool at the time.

So in a desperate rush to buy it I went ahead and bought it (stupid me). Since I had bought the car in winter I decided I was going to store it so it wouldn't see winter. Around April 2010 after all the snow and salt had disappeared off the roads I decided I was going to take it for a test drive around the block and take a better look at the car like I should have before I bought it (again Stupid me). After looking closely at the car and took it for a spin I noticed multiple problems. Idled too high, different size tires, power windows didn't work properly. So fine whatever. Then I took it to Canadian Tire for a Safety and this is when the real nightmare began. Canadian Tire said the car needed new wiper blades, outer tie rod, rear lower control arm, battery hold down bracket, reline my drum brakes, four wheel alignment, diagnose windshield washer, replace 3 cotter pins, and new tires and rims. All of this emptied my wallet. I was very upset and felt as so I was ripped off buying this car. The only good thing they had to say about the car was it was in good shape and has no rust which made me feel a bit better but was still pretty upset. Later on after I had my best friend's dad who knew a lot about civics to take a look at it. He had told me that the engine that I had was the wrong one for my car and that's why it idled too high. My nightmare did not end. It turns out my engine was a d16y7 non-vtec and my car needed a d16y8 vtec. Also I had the wrong intake manifold which was one from the d16y8.

After all my frustration for this new car I decided I was going to turn a negative situation into a positive one and that's when I decided I was going to do my homework and make this car my project car.
